2022 ACCA Call for Programs

2022 ACCA Call for Programs

Deadline: October 15, 2021

Call for Programs:  Welcome Back to Community, Connection & Humanity

ACCA is excited to announce that we are seeking submissions for our 2022 conference: Welcome Back to Community, Connection & Humanity. Our mission is to select a comprehensive set of programs that provides both breadth and depth of education and training for the variety of professionals who provide mental health services on college and university campuses, at all levels of experience and work settings.

Sessions for the conference can be in one of two formats:
  • Breakout sessions: These 90 minute sessions can take various forms, from a single presenter or panel presentation.
  • Poster session: Posters will be on display throughout the conference with a specified period for authors to answer questions about their study and findings.
The theme for the 2022 ACCA Conference is: Welcome Back to Community, Connection & Humanity. 2020 was one of the most challenging years in recent history for all of us. And then 2021 created new challenges as our universities asked us to navigate what it would mean to have a Fall semester experience that was much more in-person and on-campus. Each campus has taken different approaches and we are all figuring out what exactly a hybrid model looks like (or should look like) for our centers based on the needs and demands of our student populations.

While we all juggle these different options and approaches, this year’s theme is dedicated to highlighting what it means for us to reenter into a space of physical gathering, psychological connection, and belonging, both for ourselves, and also our students. To this end, we are interested in topics that explore ideas related to this theme of the conference, as well as topics that promote the advancement of the field of college counseling.

Our preferred session topics for the 2022 conference are:
  • Diversity/Inclusion/Equity: Unpacking historical oppression in education and mental health institutions to build bridges forward.
  • Integrative Wellbeing: Community and Campus-wide mental health initiatives. Brining students together in groups/community, Counselor Self-Care, and Counselor Resiliency.
  • Innovative Counseling Theory/Practice:  Thinking about what hybrid counseling services look like as we move into the second year of the pandemic. Novel approaches to providing hybrid counseling services, managing crises remotely, building and maintaining groups, psychoeducational programming and maintaining the therapeutic relationship in a college setting.
  • Leadership: Inspiring your staff, leadership development, and advocating for resources, innovations in meeting demand.
  • Clinical Supervision and Training: Best practices in clinical supervision, creating internship programming, promoting growth during supervision.
  • Community College Focus: Acknowledging the differences in community college centers while appreciating our common dreams.
  • Research and Program Evaluation: Research design methods, findings and evaluation.
