Becoming an Effective Supervisor: In Person and Via Technology

ACCA is pleased to announce we will be offering a webinar on August 7th at 1PM EST.  The cost is $25 for members and $50 for non-members.  This webinar is approved for 3.0 CE Credits.  

Workshop Title:  Becoming an Effective Supervisor: In Person and Via Technology

Presenters:  Becca Smith, LPC, CPCS - Georgia Southern University & Andrew Lee, Psy.D - Monmouth University

Workshop Description/Abstract:

This presentation will introduce an overview of how to provide effective clinical supervision. An introduction to supervision methods and formats will be provided. Participants will focus on the unique opportunities and challenges in building a healthy working alliance with a supervisee at a distance.  The presentation will conclude with participants being able to identify and discuss the obstacles in providing supervision via technology and how to overcome them.

Program Agenda:

  • This presentation will focus on the elements of effective supervision and know which supervision formats are the most relevant for their college counseling centers 1 hour
  • Break .25 hours
  • This presentation will focus the unique opportunities and challenges inherent in the process of generating, building and co-creating the supervisory relationship with supervisees at a distance and how to build the working alliance between supervisors and supervisees 1 hour
  • Break .25 hours
  • This presentation will focus on obstacles in tele-supervision and how to overcome those obstacles with supervisees both in individual and group supervision 1 hour

Description of Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to describe various methods of providing effective supervision
  • Participants will be able to analyze and select what supervision formats are most effective
  • Participants will be able to identify how tele-supervision impacts the supervisory relationship and create a healthy working alliance with supervisees’
  • Participants will recognize the barriers in tele-supervision and review how to overcome

Continuing Education:

This webinar will offer 3.0 CE Hours to all of those that finish the webinar.  Psychologist and Licensed Counselor credits will be offered.
