2025 ACCA Call for Programs

2025 ACCA Call for Programs

Deadline: September 15, 2024

2025 Call for Programs

THEME: Ready to Connect: Adapt & Recharge

The new deadline for submission is September 15, 2024.

SESSION FORMATS

Sessions for the conference can be in one of three formats:

  • Breakout sessions: These 90-minute sessions can take various forms, from a single presenter or panel presentation.
  • Pre-Conference sessions: These half day or full day sessions can take a deeper dive into advanced clinical concepts.
  • Poster session: Posters will be on display throughout the conference with a specified period for authors to answer questions about their study and findings.

SESSION TOPICS:
This year’s theme is dedicated to highlighting what it means to foster deep, meaningful connection as an antidote to the loneliness epidemic amongst the college population, consideration of the changing landscape of living in an increasingly digital and AI-driven world, and fostering our own wellbeing as mental health professionals. We are interested in topics that explore ideas related to this theme and promote the advancement of the field of college counseling.

We would be especially interested in session topics for the 2025 conference such as:

Climate Anxiety—In this sense, we are referring to Climate in the broad sense as it relates to: polarized communities, seeking to hear and understand each other even when we disagree, psychological safety, and the increasing tech/AI/digital realm in our lives.

Trauma—Whether it be generational trauma, trauma-bonding as form of connection, or “little t” versus “Big T” trauma, we are interested in programs that address trauma informed approaches to recovery and resilience in the college population.

Growth, Resilience, Instinct, and Tenacity (GRIT)— What are the the ways in which the college counseling center's work can nurture the concepts of growth mindset over fixed mindset, getting un-stuck, reducing over-identification with labels, and redefining resilience for today's college student?

Humanity—Fostering in-person (IRL) connections that practice empathy, compassion. Also, the double-edged sword of technology as it impacts human connection.

Clinical Supervision and Training: Best practices in clinical supervision, creating internship programming, promoting growth during supervision.

Community College Focus: Acknowledging the differences in community college centers while appreciating our common goals.

Inclusion and Belonging: We’ve seen a rise in anti-DEI legislation this year; what are ways in which we are able to ensure that mental health services remain inclusive spaces for the full range of diverse student populations? Consider dialogue regarding the evolution from spaces that are diverse, to ones that are also inclusive, to ones where a true and deep sense of belonging and mattering are permeated.

And of course, presentations on topics of Ethics, Supervision, and Diagnosis/Treatment are also of interest
