Presentation Title:  Practical Tips on Working in a College Counseling Center

Presenter:  Becca Smith, LPC, CPCS

Date:  Wednesday, March 15th

Time:  1pm Eastern

1 CE for APA & NBCC

Abstract:

College mental health and working in Higher Education is different than working in private practice or in community mental health.  There are different expectations to collaborate and work with other departments and managing confidentiality can be more complex.  Documentation is very important in the mental health profession, but there are some specific things to consider when documenting in the college mental health setting.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to identify challenges to collaborating in the campus community without compromising confidentiality.
  2. Participants will be able to describe how to overcome those challenges and collaborate effectively with other departments.
  3. Participants will be able to list what is needed to properly document interactions with others on campus as well as their sessions with clients.

Cost to Attend:

Members: $10

Non-Members: $20

Student Members: FREE
